True Hero

I had the privilege last night to have dinner with Mr. Charles Henderson, an author of several books, including Marine Sniper. The book chronicles Carlos Hathcock, a famous sniper in the Corps. I would encourage you to visit the link www.charleshenderson.net. The inspirations page is very well written.

Mr. Henderson was one of the most personable people I have met in a very long time. There are long and far away connections my wife and her family have to this gentleman, and I can truly say I have never been as moved by the respect this man showed my family. A true gentleman.

I’ll never forget something I overheard him say, as I feel it tells more about this man than anything anyone else could write. I heard him say ‘I’ve never felt as though I was a hero, but I have been able to serve with many of them through the Marine Corps’. Only a true hero would say that.

Marine Sniper was an awesome book. Very cool experience- did you manage to get a picture with him? I know it's awkward to ask at a dinner, but dude- it's Charles Effing Henderson! :)

I don't know Henderson, but I do know a little about Haithcock. From my bad memeory, I recall him dropping a dozen, or more VC at a river crossing and watching their bodies float past him.
