A good weekend of writing

Well, editing, but you get the idea. I finished what I thought was my final draft of my novel, including overhauling the ending. Unfortunately, I found a few discrepancies in the timeline, and a few tweaks I want to add. So, I'm doing another read through. It's going much faster this time, though. I'm not having to change much of anything other than a few too many occurrences of "that" and some sneaky adverbs I overlooked. Once I finish this run-through I'll be ready to let someone else read it and give me their opinion. I'll probably start with my mother-in-law; she's pretty sharp, and honest, so she won't tell me it's good if it really sucks.

I think part of me doesn't really want to finish it. That's not true. I want to finish, I'm just scared to submit it. I've worked so hard on this for over two years. I've poured everything I am into it. It's difficult to let someone scrutinize something you've put so much of your life into. It's not just the story that will be judged; I'll be judged.

It's good to be writing again. I knew I was missing it. I just didn't realize how much.

Yes, do tell. And I feel you on the submission part. I will work on my pieces (not novels) and I will love them, then I will hate them, then I will just be terrified of the response. But, taking that step and keeping your mind open about the feedback you get will be more helpful than harmful...most of the time, anyway. :D
