Shared on Tue, 03/03/2009 - 22:17We had a lay-off today. The suits wiped out half of our branch, but I managed to hang on a little longer. I'm afraid next time they'll just completely shut our plant down, but for now, at least, I still have a job. I watched a lot of good people walk out the door today. One woman's 29th anniversary was next week. She took it well, as she was thinking of retiring anyway, but there were some tears, and I can't really blame them; there just isn't anywhere for most of them to go.
I talked to buddy of mine this weekend that used to work with. He got laid off back in October and still ahsn't found anything. He has even made business cards and gone and talked to realtors and home builders, but he hasn't gotten a single bite. The poor bastard has 2 ex-wives and 4 or 5 kids.
I'm by no means on easy street, but I sure am grateful to still have a job and still have my head above water.
