To sleep: perchance to dream

Today I actually slept a straight 8 hrs. Now this may not seem a big deal to anyone but myself. You see I work nights. Have been for almost 15 yrs now. The last few years I haven't been able to manage a good nights(days) sleep no way, no how. I have no problems falling asleep. Once my head hits the pillow, I'm out within a couple of minutes. Now staying asleep, that's a different matter all together. 5,4 and even 3 hrs later I'll be wide awake again. I've tried going to the bathroom, reading for awhile, everything short of heavy sedation, but nothing seems to work. It's like my inner clock is trying to self correct( sleep at night, awake in day, dummy ). If the 4 or 5 hrs sleep were good enough then this wouldn't be a problem but I find myself feeling really drowzy around 1-3 am. That sensation that my eyelids have suddenly gained about 10 lbs each. So when the occasional extended sleep period comes along it feels great.

So onto movie news. I found a trailer for a movie coming up that seems pretty interesting. Lots of violence, action, humor and Alicia Keys packin' heat.

and another childhood memory, vampires. Loved vampire movies. Could never figure out though, why the blood always looked so damned fake.

Eye candy, hmm, let's see. More pirates? Na, something different I think

A great quote:  High school girls. I keep getting older and they stay the same age. (Now that my daughter's in high school, that just seems so wrong now. Damn morals)

I know what your going through with the sleep. I work 12 hour rotating shifts so I can really sympathize with what you are going through. I have recently been taking 10mg of Ambien to help me sleep when I work nights. I have tried darkening my bedroom, have a noise maker in the room with me i.e. air purifier, as well as read before going to sleep. I finally went to the doctor after I fell asleep at the wheel of my car one morning and just about wrecked. Ambien for me is a Godsend. It knocks me out and keeps me out for at least 6-7 hours and I don't feel like crap when I wake up like you do when you take tylenol pm or anyother over the counter med. I also watch my caffeine intake after midnight. That seems to help as well. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone!
