Way too often you see couples splitting up and both parties hell bent on doing what they can to screw over their former partner. A good deal of the time this involves using the children as leverage and/or weapons.
Case in point. Last night at work, one of the idiotsticks was in the office asking me what I wanted him to do next. (Quick note: I work for a produce distribution firm that ships all those nice fresh fruits and veggies and other food items to the restaurants, caterers and grocery stores in the surrounding area) So I give him the orders for his next truck to load and as he's going through the bills, he mentions how later in the week the judge will be changing his custody arrangements with his ex-girlfriend. He's all happy that he will be getting more time with his daughter and all and then he says something that made me want to reach across the counter and slap the stupid grin clean off his face.
"The ex says she should be getting a job soon so I was thinking maybe I should quit work, go on assistance and make her pay me support for a change. My mom thinks it's a good idea. Get back at the bitch and all."
This made me stop what I was doing and say "What the fuck is wrong with you pinhead?"
He gets a look on his face like I had just asked him how many grains of sand are in the Sahara desert. "What?"
"How is that going to help your daughter? You take a cut in pay and teach her how to be a bum and a leech. Your ex ends up with less money and can't afford to buy the things she needs to look after your daughter properly. The kid loses on both ends. Did you ever stop to think of her instead of yourself for a minute?
He mumbled, shuffled his feet for a minute, then said "Maybe you're right" and left the office a little red faced. And people wonder what's wrong with kids today. THIS is the kind of crap that pisses me off.
Now I need something to make me feel warm and fuzzy again. This trailer for " The Astronaut Farmer" helps a little.
