Yes I do love shooting guns but that is about the only thing I have in common with these doom and gloom survivalists. I was researching a gun one day and found a website and on the forums was a forum for survival. I clicked on it and started reading it. Most of it was sort of out there end of the world stuff. Some of it was common sense things we should all think about. Long story short, I have looked into it a little more. For instance, I live in a house with an electric heat pump. If power goes out in the middle of the winter with an ice storm, I am screwed. I have no alternate heat source. Now Tennessee isn't Minnesota but we still get our share of snow and ice. Little things like this have got me interested in reading some of these websites. Do I really think I will have to bug out to the mountains to survive one day? Not really but it has got me thinking about being prepared for things. How many people were prepared when Katrina hit? So do any of you prepare for emergencies or disasters? Check out this guys blog. http://survivalblog.com/
Interesting reading. Yes, some of it is far fetched but some of it, who knows. I was looking at some of his first blogs from several years ago and he was warning about the housing problem long before I knew anything about it.
I just say it is always good to be prepared. I know my family is not prepared for even a little emergency like the power being off for several days. So what kind of preparing has your family done? And once again, I am not a nut.
