Flu

Just wondering how things are in your part of the world?  In my little town in upper east TN, the flu has hit hard.  I teach in a small highs school with a little over 500 students.  As of today, 133 are out sick.  I have become a germ freak.  I wash my hands all day long.  Anybody else experiencing the flu in your neck of the woods?

That is just my high school. There are 4 more high schools in my county. All schools are experiencing these numbers.\r

I don't know anyone personally who has had H1N1, or any flu for that matter. There was a news report of a local school closing today however.\r \r I would guess that of the 133 sick kids, a large percentage may not actually have the flu. Some would have a cold, or bronchitis or sinus drainage or a test to take this week or any number of other ailments.\r \r With the amplified coverage of Pig Flu alot of people are probably misdiagnosing themselves.

We haven't been hit hard. But, I'm definitely worrying about getting sick a hell of a lot more than I ever have before... and it annoys me.

I work in a hospital right outside Philly and so far we haven't been hit hard. Everyone is still here.\r \r I did get my regular flu shot last week. Once the H1N1 shot comes in I'm getting that too.

3 reported cases in schools this week, and my Father-in-law had H1N1 about 3 weeks ago...other than that, there's a throat, sinus, ear infection going around Harrisburg that slightly resembles the flu, so it has the Dr. offices packed with freaking people.

Auto is right. There is a bit of flu-like nastiness floating around here. It's bitten the entire Snuphy family. It’s a bitch to beat.\r \r My kindergartener was sent home with a notice that an assistant had an unconfirmed case of H1N1. School attendance has plummeted since. Not sure if kids are actually ill with the crap we have, or if parents are keeping their kids at home as a precautionary measure. Still, I don't know that we're down 27% like you are.\r

And on cue, the aforementioned kindergartener arrived home with tales of a classmate projectile vomitting. Can't wait to catch that cute little affliction.
