Oblivion.... Should I?

A little over a year ago when I bought my 360, I borrowed Oblivion. At the time, I just couldn't get into it. Not sure why. I was really enjoying GOW and I just didn't spend much time with Oblivion before I gave it back. I was at my local game store and I noticed Oblivion for $20. I am thinking about picking it up for this but I just don't know if I am an rpg kind of guy. I love shooters but I am not sure if rpg are my cup of tea. I also saw Assassins Creed for $40. Just not sure which I would get more pleasure from.

I picked up Oblivion after trading it in a year or so ago. I'm playing an entirely different class than I did before, and am having a blast. Also, I'm a goody-two-shoes this time around which has opened different quests for me than my last playthrough. It's the biggest bang for 60.00 the 360 currently has in it's line-up IMO.

Gears is the game that finally got me off of the Oblivion crack. It is still my favorite game of all time, but slow to start. I'd get it.

Maybe that was my problem. I didn't play it much. I escaped the sewer and looked around in a city. That is a problem of mine. I think I will pick it up. For the price, even if I don't get into it, I am not out much.

RPGs are like good novels, you need to spend the time in the boring back story before you get to the good stuff. I would say that's common with all RPGs. If you do pick up oblivion though, you should get the game of the year edition, it has a lot of extras. But Oblivion is easily a 75-100 hour game. With games like GTA4, Fallout3 and Fable 2 all coming this year, you might want to pass on the aged Oblivion in favor of a newer RPG. If you're a Sci Fi fan, i'd highly recommend Mass Effect. I stopped playing Oblivion in the 70hours someplace but am well past 100 with Mass Effect.

AC is more of a rental and I'm so glad I didnt spend anymore money on it than I did. Sure it looked amazing and the game was fun but there's not much to do after finishing the missions. Sure you can look for the 1,000 flags scattered about the kingdom if you're into that. I wasnt and I got a good 15-20 hrs anyway. I couldnt get into Oblivion just because there was so much to do and I'd rather spend that time OL.
