Replaced Hot Water Heater Elements

Never tried this before.  Not a hard job.  At least that is what I figured.  I thought the hardest part would be just getting to the hot water heater.  You see, my wife loves giant tupperware containers.  She sticks everything in them and sticks them in the garage.  Luckily, we are having a warm day here in upper east TN so I opened the garage door and started moving crap.  I get to the heater and start openingit up.  I had already made a trip to Lowes and picked up two new elements and a tool to remove the old ones.  I turned the power off and started draining the heater.  Didn't seem to be draining real fast so I let it go awhile.  After awhile I figured it had drained enough to remove the top element.  NOPE.  Water gushed out.  I quickly screwed it back in.  This went on for over an hour.  Finally I got down and started blowing on the drain pipe.  Turns out there was 10 years of crap plugging up the drain.  I finished draining by hand.  Blow drain blow drain.  Just got it all put back together and turned everything back on.  Seems to be working.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Now the wife informs me she wants to get out of the house and do something.  she has been sick for 3 days and is going crazy. All I want to do is rest now.

Sounds like your water heater might not have much life left. I hope it last awhile for ya..

I had to replace one element in my hot water heater once... Not a big deal. But mine was the top element. BTW, I drove by you on 40 last night....
