What Have I Done Now?

In three weeks, I will be taking the family to Disneyworld.  My dad is taking us all expenses paid.  All I have to do is get my family from Tennessee to Florida.  My plan was to drive stopping in Atlanta and spending a night with my sister and her family.  Seemed like a good plan to me.  Then my wife started whining about flying.  Now I am not scared of flying.  In fact, as a child, I flew quite often.  Parents were footing the bill then.  I don't think I have flown in 25 years or more.  I was a little nervous because I am a big guy.  I hear all the time from friends that fly just how small planes and the seats are.  My wife found a flight down for $29 (bs, but more on that later).  I decided to research things.  Turns out the seats are 17.8" wide.  My desk chair is 21" and it is okay.  I could probably go 20" and be good.  Anything smaller and I don't know that I will fit.  You must be able to lower the arm rest completely.  I am not sure how to measure my ass but I can tell you that it is bigger than 17.8"  Here is my thinking.  I will be sitting next to a 5 year old or a 6 year old.  They don't need there entire 17.8".  I hope I will be allowed to borrow a couple of inches from them.  Does this sound doable?  Also, I got to figuring.  The $29 flight starts adding up.  $29 x 4 people turns into $320 after all their little fees are included.  The good news is it is only $310 to come back home.  So now, not only am I spending $630 flying to Disney, I am not even sure I will fit into the plane.

To top it all off, I could care less about Disney.  I hate stuff like this.  Somebody convince me that it isn't that bad.

Usually the non-exit row seats have armrests that raise so you can give the hips some extra room that way.

I too have the same issue, since you get to borrow a few inches from you kids, you will be fine. Just put the are rest up, and you are good. But you might need an extension for the lap belt. If you ask the flight attendants they should be able to get you one.

I hadn't thought about needing an extension for the seat belt. Being fat sucks. :)

I am a big dood too and as long as I sit next to my girlfriend (who is small) I am just fine. Avoid the isle it may give you a little more room but just like the movies they will hit you with the cart and not give a crap.
