Does the Playstaion Network Have A No Talking Rule?

I recently joined up with 2Old2Resist for all my PS3 needs. I had some pretty high standards because my fellow PCP guys and gals are truly awesome. As soon as my Xbox Red Ringer gets fixed I will be back and forth between the two. Anyway, playing with 2O2R is fun, good guys, good games, good conversation. However, when I try and just pick up a random game I find a very disturbing trend.

My question is, what it so hard about using a mic? Almost no one uses them. COD4, COD :W@W, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Online, how they heck do you play with no mic? I feel like a moron yelling out "2 guys just ran into new construction"!!!! ... and then hear nothing but silence. No one talks, no one communicates enemy positions. It is so bad that I actually miss the Timmies telling me about the horrible things they want to do to my mommy's private no-no area.

I am not going to bash the PS3 because I love Metal Gear and Killzone 2 campaign modes. I will say that the lack of communication within PSN is mind boggling. I have had more conversations on MMORPG games where I am typing out each word. Yes, I am referring to you Fiesta and Maple Story.

He11vis out.

no mic culture on the PSN. One of Sony's big mistakes was not including a headset with every PS3. the upside is that most of the people that do talk on the PSN are mature gamers and not some random douchie kid singing on the microphone because the people who go out and spend money on a mic actually want to use it as intended (of course you still do get some douchie kids but not as many)

I know the feeling. I had the same issue CoD4 where everyone was mute and would set up camp in one corner of the map. Made getting air strikes pretty easy. I have a mic for it, but never used it because nobody I knew had a PS3 and used it for playing games.

Don't forget there is proximity chat as well in Killzone and SOCOM. They "could" be trying to be stealthy. Hey, it's a long shot but I felt I'd throw it out there.

In Killzone I feel I can't talk with my team about what to do because the other team may listen in. I wish I could turn that off

fuck that - I forget to blink or breath sometimes because KZ2 is so intense - let alone talk. Seriously I'm exhausted after I play that game for a couple of hours lol
