I know I don't know everything...

I don't usually say anything political...I know how heated we get with Politics...but I'd just like to say...

This whole Economic thing going on with Fannie Mae and...crap what's the other one?  Anyways...with them wanting a buy out...yadda yadda...it's scary.  I watched a few programs yesterday and read a few articles...I kinda like to be up on current events.  And, I have always said that not everything is the current presidents fault.  Case and point...Fannie mae and Freddi mac...(I remembered)...about this time in the year 1999...just before Bill Clinton left office...he went to these two companies and basically forced them to make home loans available for people they knew couldn't afford a home loan.  There were annalysts who said if these companies and those who got these home loans weren't watched carefully, it would come back to bite us in the butt.

So, thanks Bill Clinton, for you shenanigans in your presidency...and especially for the economic problems of today.  People that get all hot and heavy and make it out like EVERYTHING is George W. Bush's fault don't have all the facts.  I'm not saying he isn't responsible for some things, so don't get all pissed off...those of you who hate him.    You're allowed to hate him, I won't say you aren't...but I'm equally allowed to hate Bill Clinton...so don't give me your "Oh, Bill did so much for our country" schpeal...I don't want to hear it... hehehe

Side note: I'm also not saying the American People are also to blame...those people who went and spent and spent and spent...it have come back to bite them in the butt too.   MOney money Money...we all just need to live within our means, and this sort of thing wouldn't be as big of a deal...

I agree with Ekattan. Party politics get in the way on a lot of things. People are always making it out to be R vs D. There are other groups out there, but they fall to the wayside because they are not big enough for the people or the mainstream media. It's terrible. I do not know enough about the Clinton administration to have a full say on anything having to do with the lead-up to the failing economy, but I do know that the past 8 years have not been all that wonderful for us. Ekattan has summed up the predatory lending/sub-prime market pretty well. And I am going to have to say this bailout isn't something that I believe is going to work either. :) good blog Hilskie dear! Where have you been, missy?

Yeah...I have been doing my research as far as what I wrote in my blog...of course since then I've done more... The Clinton Admin did go to Fannie Mae, and all but force them to offer home loans to people with bad credit or who couldn't afford them. The problem with those kind of people, especially the bad credit...THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTROL THEIR MONEY SPENDING! Fannie mae was promised Government backing, which is why they ultimately went along with it. It's all about money...the might freakin' dollar. ekattan...doesn't sound like you're in America? Are you worried it'll affect you where ever you live?

+1....I'm also trying to stay out of politics (being indirectly involved in politics myself) but I love it the someone thinks for themselves and not what the news tells them to think.

Hilskie it's very simple. The current government under Bush just like almost all Republicans are what they call "Fiscal Conservatives" who are against federal oversight and regulatory laws for banking and other economic institutions. How did this mess happen? Well greedy CEO's started giving out sub-prime mortgages like if they were rubber tortillas. Keep in mind the governmental policies of "we don't care". Banking institutions say "Who cares if these people who we give out loans to can't pay up. We will get interest on the loan for two years and when they can't pay we will reposes the homes". This is evil of course but it is also good business, that is if the real estate market doesn't fall in value. Do to too many homes being built and so many sub-prime mortgages given out the housing market fell so much that the banks now had homes worth almost 15% less then they were worth. Meaning they lost billions. They can sell the homes and they don't have the money for the mortgages. Keep in mind when Clinton left the administration, there was a surplus of over +220 billion. Now currently the deficit of the country is at -440 billion and with this bailout it will be at over a trillion dollars. Meaning the economy will fall. That is why it's such a big deal. Will the bailout work? Many people doubt including myself. It will mostly help the privileged and avoid them from selling their homes in Barbados. Get informed, do your research, and vote. I don't want to sound like a cliche but your country's future is at serious risk here. Please note that I'm not a liberal or conservative, nor a republican or a democrat. These political parties have created a narrow mindedness that falters the democratic process. Now we have news channels siding with each party spewing propaganda until the public is bewildered as to who is telling the truth.

Hilskie, I think I love you! lol Your rant sounded just like mine. On, and as for Ekattan, he's not liberal or conservative, nor republican or democrat cause he's a socialist/communist. He also doesn't look at both sides of the story and thinks that everything done while a president in office has its results while that president is in office. Even though, with the way our government works, it's about 6-8 years before any major decisions in office take effect.

You see what I mean about narrow mindedness? Facts don't matter, they will always blame anyone else but their chosen party candidate. It works the same either for a democrat or republican. Political parties have destroyed the free thinking american voter.
