Shared on Sun, 09/02/2007 - 15:11As you can tell, I am an OSU fan. That being said, I am a Big Ten fan. What in the world happened to Michigan yesterday? I am not a Michigan hater. I like to see the Big Ten schools win...just not when they are playing OSU. This was supposed to be a marshmallow opener for Michigan and they ended up getting schooled. Mike Hart pretty much carried the whole team, but nobody else stepped up.
Lloyd Carr is probably done at Michigan. He was on shaky ground after the loss to OSU last year and they have gotten schooled in their last 3 games. It's not looking good.
I thought this article was well written:
Appalachian State earns role as conquering hero
"Here's the only good news for Lloyd Carr: His athletic director is Bill Martin, not Frank Broyles.
If it were Broyles, Carr could be Unemployed Lloyd by sunup Sunday. They'd be scraping his name off his office door right now. Remember 1992, when Arkansas lost its season opener 10-3 to I-AA The Citadel? Razorbacks AD Broyles trapdoored coach Jack Crowe the next day.
And that Arkansas team was not expected to contend for a national title, which this Michigan team was supposed to do.
The only certainties for the Wolverines now are these: They will see thousands of Appalachian State shirts and hats around the Big Ten this year, and Carr will face more fan dissatisfaction than any coach in the country."
Mark May also pointed out that Michigan hasn't beaten OSU in the last 6 years (its biggest rivalry), and only won one bowl game in its last 6 years. Added to the fact that they got rolled by a division I-AA school. Hats off to App State, they played amazingly, but that is embarrassing to lose that game AT HOME in the big house.
