Can't Sleep. Shit's Pissing Me Off.

For the longest time that I can remember I have not been able to sleep easily at night. This even dates back to my early teens(I am now 27). Now, there are chunks of time where it isn't so bad, but most days once I lay down to sleep it takes an average of 2-3 hours before I actually fall asleep. Then there are days where I may not fall asleep till 6am and then I have to work at 7am. On those days I feel like I am in the twilight zone. Now, I have been to doctors, got my thyroid checked and other shit, tried taking various sleep aids and nothing works. I don't know if it's that I have a brain that won't shut down or what but I will lay there and think about the stupidest shit and I can't turn it off. So there are alot of times where I go sleep on the couch because a)I won't keep up the gf with my constant turning and b)sometimes I sleep better by myself. So not only do I not get sleep, but it pisses the gf off that I "don't want to sleep with her". In the end I lose on all fronts.

So is there anyone else out there like this??/ What the fuck do you do? Because right now the only way I can pass out is if I get blacked out drunk and the mornings aren't too friendly to me when I do that.

I take something called seroquel, you can ask your doc about it, but don't surprised if he asks if you've been hallucinating... also you really have to be careful with the alcohol... and if rxed you should probably exercise caution around food... bathroom scale says I've lost 40 lbs in the last 4 months, the sq caused me to eat about 5 full meals a day and I gained 70lbs in about a years time........................

My wife takes an anti-anxiety pill. She had the same symptoms you list...her mind would just race and she couldn't sleep, so it may be a form of anxiety that is keeping you up. She hates me because I can sleep anywhere anytime, and if I hit Mary Jane when I get home, I am out as soon as I close my eyes. I'll fix you up at the LAN and see if that helps.

Actually I have a big anxiety problem, that's part of the reason I drink so much. At my last job it was near debilitating and that's part of the reason I quit there. To get to the lan I will need something otherwise a plane ride by myself is gonna ruin my world. Seriously it's bad enough just going to walmart sometimes let alone on a fucking plane. Anyways, everytime I go to the doctor they give me anti-depressants instead. I have tried paxil, effexor, some other bullshit) but the anti-depressants just didn't do it for me. But the one time I was on xanax it seemed to help. The thing is my current doc wont give it to me because it's habit forming. Like paxil isn't????

The old lady is on a dose of Prozac and I was on Wellbutrin for a bit (mostly to quit smoking but that fell to shit). If you bunk with me I'll bring my kids lullaby CD and I'll rock you to sleep at night...that and a heavy dose of herb and Canadian whiskey! Maybe Valium to help calm you down? Seriously, I wish I was had a solution for you Bunny.

Don't play Left4Dead before bed because after you're done, all you'll do is lie there and think about what will you do during the coming zombie apocalypse.

Sleeping pills with Diphenhydramine HCl work and motion sickness pills work too. At one point I was only getting 2-3 hours of sleep per day and I don't know why so I tried pills and they helped. Good luck.

DUDE! I got your back. I had the same thing. First, if you smoke... you gotta quit. 2nd, most sleep aids don't help, but my doc prescribed me a new one that is like SUPER MELATONIN. If you haven't tried Melatonin yet... try that first.

Put your dirty gotch on your face and breath deeply....that should knock your ass out!!! Nah seriously though bro, it's all conditioning. You have to condition your body to sleep at certain times. There's plenty of books and resources on the issue and I hope that you find something that works for you.

I used to used 5htp which i think is like melatonin. The htp is supposed to replenish your serotonin I think. Anyways it used to help a bit. Maybe I will try and find me some high grade melatonin.

Do you have a workout routine? If not, I'd suggest it. I used to have issues all the time also. I changed my routine, and haven't issues since. Now, I have an early dinner (6ish, since eating late keeps you awake) and after I eat I workout for an hour. I dont allow myself to sleep in, and I try to be in bed consistently at the same times. If your go to bed times fluctuate, i.e. you stay up late gaming on weekends, you are confusing your body as to which is appropriate. Also turn off the TV at night.
