Shared on Mon, 08/17/2009 - 07:51Lan then a week at the cottage with my parents and brother with his kids. No one fought (miracles!) Excellent weather (another miracle!)
Erica went on a boat for the first time that she can remember and loved it. Loved fishing too. It's only when you are with other people do you realise the odd things about your kids. Erica's "odd" thing is she is obsessed with food and eating. I love food too, so I know where she gets it. But I was teaching her how to fish. I stuck a fake worm on a pole and just jigged a bit. I often sing her songs to get her to understand what I am doing: "This is the way we bounce our pole, bounce our pole, bounce our pole... This is the way we bounce our pole, all day long" And then "This is the way we catch a fish, catch a fish, catch a fish...." and what does Erica come up with?
"This is the way we eat him up, eat him up, eat him up..."
I taught my niece how to make water balloons. The family ended up buying a refrigerator, an excellent beef for roasting and some of the best honey garlic sausages all from the same store. Now that is small town Ontario for you.
My head is still going up and down a bit from being on the boat. Or maybe it's the lack of coffee in my veins. I must rectify that situation.
