Beautiful Katamari Weekend

My name is J-Cat and I'm a Katamari Addict.

I love this game. It's fun, it's silly, it's easy to pick up and play, but it's also quite challenging. For those of you who haven't seen this game, you have a little guy (the Prince) who rolls around a ball (a Katamari). The katamari starts off small, but it's sticky. When the katamari touches something smaller than itself, that thing will stick to it, and your katamari will grow. That's it! You start by rolling up tacks and band aids, then legos and yo-yos, then martini glasses and books and eventually you get big enough to roll up people, bullet trains, continents even solar systems. That's it in a nutshell.

The challenge comes not from just beating the game, that's actually not too terribly hard. The challenge is in *finishing* the game. In collecting every single thing in the Katamari universe, in finding all the cousins (playable characters), in finding all of the gifts that are hiding on each level and in getting a perfect score of 100. This game is great if you are a completionist, and like to nab every little thing in a game. I finally got my first perfect game last night. yay me!

What else. It was a great weekend, it was my husband's birthday. Now we are in "prime breakup time". There are 6 days between our birthdays, so he has been given one more gift this year. He always used to joke that if he was going to break up with me it would be after I gave him his brithday gift but before he had to give me mine! nice guy! I'll let you know if we make it.

Erica is up from her nap. I am coping with the time change OK so far!

Just a heads up: my Confessions of a FPS Newb: Multiplayer Edition got published on the main page. I'm quite proud of that. Looking back, I wish I took more time in the writing, but I wanted it to sound authentic, and honest.

Anyhoo: enjoy yer week!

edit: trying to update my avatar: no matter what I do, the picture is really distorted.  Glad my husband is smart and can do the thinking for me!
