In a nutshell: going to Louis CK on Friday, Casino on Saturday (maybe) - My mom is in town: we flew her in on points so we could get away for a bit. Hurray! What else?
Coworkers are awesome-sauce. But i wanted to comment ont he reaction to my question on multi-generational workplaces. Why do you care what hours someone puts in? why do you care if they are surfing hte net or IMing folks, when what we should be concerned with is the work produced. I am very "horizontal" in my thinking. Okay I am flaky. I nibble on this, think on that, chat about this or that project with a buddy etc. I may look ineffiecnt, but I produce some major results. I cut down average wait times for whole sections. I cut paperwork, I help my coworkers see the larger picture and we get stuff done and out the door. So why can't others do that?
So: maybe the thought for the new workplace is "don't tell me how to do something: tell me what needs to get done and when: let me figure out the how ."
