FadintoBlack... Cookies!

Perfect cookie recipe :

Except there is one problem. The correct amount of chocolate chips is "too many"  And 24 yield? Nu-uh! I get 18. minus 3 cause you can't ask a 3 year old to bake cookies and them send them ALL away. And you can't ask a Dad to sit by and watch a 3yo eat fresh cookies without having one himself and you REALLY can't ask a pregnant woman to NOT eat fresh cookies... so Fade is getting significantly less than 24 cookies. But they turned out pretty good!

We actually added some smarties too... and we just use plain old chocolate chips...

But yeah... I don't bake. Baking is like chemistry (in fact it IS chemistry) and I don't do well with precise measurements. But cookies you can't screw up. The amount of ingredient is forgiving. And you add sugar and everything wet to one bowl (mix), everything dry in another (mix).  Add dry to wet (in 3 portions mix in between) then add "yummie stuff" at end. It's easy.

What else is new? Not much. About 3 weeks away from 3rd trimester. Ankles swelling. So I decided to get something for my handheld system. SEan can watch hockey playoffs and I can keep my feet up and enjoy gaming.

Fine it's pokemon (Heart Gold ed!) Pokemon is actually one awesome little game. Wickedly complex. It has a basic rock paper scissors dynamic where one type is stong against another type and weak against the other. Now imagine that if there were 17 different types. And there were different ways of levelling up (attributes) and then you could give your guys items to hold that changed stats. And you had dozens of different attacks/buffs/debuffs to play with. It's rather nuts. But somehoe it has a casual game quality that I am digging right now. So yeah... I am J-Cat and I'm going to catch... not nearly them all!

Hm...ever read the book - 'If you give a mouse a cookie'? That's what that reminded me of.

Here's our home recepie. I can't take full credit for it - we had a neighbor who was a manager of a Mrs. Fields, so we scored all their corporate recepies. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 cup white sugar 1 cup salted butter, softened 2 large eggs 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract 2 cups (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips Directions: Preheat oven to 300F. In medium bowl, combine flour, soda, and salt. Mix well with wire wisk. Set aside. In a large bowl with an electric mixer blend sugars at medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix at medium speed until just blended. Do not overmix. Add the flour mixture and chocolate chips, and blend at low speed until fully combined. Do not overmix. Drop by rounded tablespoons [ed. note: we use a medium scooper] onto an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookies immediately to a cool surface with a spatula.
