Well, I put down preorders for the following:

Batman Arkham Asylum

Marvel ultimate Alliance 2

Dragon's Age: Origins

Splinter Cell: Conviction

Eventually I will throw down some cash for COD MW2 but that can wait. I am extremely excited for this lineup: everything looks top notch. What annoys me is that I have 5 games I want: all in the last quarter of the year... or almost.  It's been covered to death, but I just do't understand why game publishers choose to do everything in the final quarter. Yes... Christmas. I get it. But not all movies are released final quarter of the year. Mind you, lots of DVDs are released final quarter.

I dunno. It hink the gaming market is just too saturated from September to late November. Gimmie some excellent gaming in the summer and I would be happy. As it stands I am sure that there are excellent games being released around this time that I can't even look at. 5 games I want this year: all coming out within 4 months of each other. That's just wrong.  My husband says that software companies just tend to publish about this time of the year... maybe gaming is a hold over from that. But we always compare gaming to movies: movies are released all throughout the year. Yes... the blockbusters come out in the summer, Oscar contenders in the fall, Christmas has a stash of family and serious movies... but the point is that there is *something* being released all the time, and there is always something of quality throughout the year. Gaming seems to be so "Christmas heavy". 

Anything you guys are waiting for? Did the Batman demo blow you away half as much as it did me?

What else you you notice about this list? 5 games: 4 sequels. all of them known IPs.

Im actually pretty excited for Lost Planet 2 and Darksiders and Mini-Ninjas. I've gotta be uber picky this holiday season about what games I get since I have an insanely limited budget for now. I liked the controls and look of the new Batman game...but a few things about it bugged me. Every room having gargoyles? Detective mode. I dunno.

I think the lack of games this summer is demonstrated best by the success of Battlefield 1943. An arcade game that shut down EA's servers? It's not even that great a game but everybody was looking for something.

There's not really a lot of point in pre-ordering splinter cell since it's not coming out this year, it's been delayed till 2010. The only UBI title coming out in 2009's fall season is Assassins. Batman looks good but it's 1p only so i'm going to pick it up later. Dragons Age was delayed until November and i don't need a 100 hour rpg in november with Modern Warfare, assassins and left 4 dead all coming out. I also have read they didn't do enough work adapting it to the console, it feels and controls much like a PC game which isn't a good thing. Alpha Protocol looks interesting though, i'm either going to get that or borderlands in October. I'm picking up MUA2 for sure, can't wait for that.

My list keeps changing, but I got enough for MUA2, Borderlands & Darksiders with Mini Ninjas going to be a pick up when price drops to a good amount :)
