Gaming: A little bit of Refuge

For various reasons, mostly because I care WAY too much about things, I have allowed myself to get a bit stressed lately. I think that if I do more and more and more, volunteer and volunteer, I will be able to accomplish goals too lofty for one person. The result? People stop listening, and I get stressed. So what now? One as to pull back a bit, re-evaluate the situation. I am but one person, and while I do have influence, I alone cannot change the world, the site, the economy overnight. Stressing myself out will accomplish less than nothing.

So... what have I decided to do? I am going to think globally and act locally. I want to increase the sense of community at 2o2p? Great! The tacks which I have been taking have gotten me no where. So what can I do?

GAME DAMMIT!

Sometimes I forget why we are here as a crew. We are here as a community to game... to not hang out with 12 yo boys, to play and have fun with one another. So. Now we know that: here is the big question: compplete a second playthrough of Mass Effect or complete Bioshock, or PuzzleQuest Galactrix?  Or hell: COD:W@W... go pwn some timmies?

thoughts?

Just keep being you: You're a truly good person and someone who leads by example. That said, Mass Effect! I'm surprised at how much I like this game. If someone told me it was basically choose-your-own-adventure but you shoot stuff too, I would have played it a long time ago.

My vote: Complete Bioshock AND continue to do what you do...You are a strong voice for this site and represent accordingly. Do not take the absence of tangible change as a sign of failure or a lack of accomplishment.

I think what you do and say does matter over all on a site like this. There is a huge signal to noise ratio is all. I often have to think of the site as a pysch ward with 400+ people screaming about nothing 24 hours a day. You have to weed through a lot, but in the end the signal gets through. I always use Halo comp as an example mainly because its the longest standing community and game on 2o2p. If you knew how it was compared to how it is I think most people would be shocked. Sure they still have their tiffs, but nothing compared to 2 years ago. We always thought nothing got through and slowly the bad apples got bored, banned, or left.

Hey, gaming is what we are all about. And, yes you have a voice here. You know you do. But, things that have taken years to create, don't change in a very short time.
