Going out!

Hurray! I am actually going out tonight! My husband is babysitting and I am heading for Elgin Street (downtown).  It's been forever since I was able to get out of the house: Erica is 8.5 mo old, and has just started sleeping through the night.  Before then it was too chancy to go out, since if she woke up, only mummy could get her back down.

So: I am getting all tarted up tonight, putting Erica to sleep, calling a cab, kissing my man on the cheek and away I go!

I am going to a fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. It's sort of a sad story, my buddy Dave died 5 years ago from an infection brought around by his kidney disease. His Mom (Judy: fab lady) hold a fundraiser in his name every year at the local pub where we used to frequent. The owner (Danny) is great, he donates the space, and a full buffet dinner. We charge $10 so all of that goes to the kidney foundation. There is a silent auction  and raffle tickets. I will probably be selling tickets (as usual) but I really don't mind  After a few round of ticket selling: I can hang out with my buddy Terri-Berri and her hubby.

Too excited: I have my outfit all planned out and everything. gah I'm a freak for getting so excited, but whatever.  This is actually an important step in every Mom's life I think. To go out as a woman, and not a mommy.  I do get tarted up most Friday nights, and my husband and I stay in and watch a movie or play games... (this is the rated G version thank you very much). But it's different when you go out.  Last Sunday I went shopping, and spent the longest time I have been without Erica (3 hours).

We will see what happens: I bet I will miss being home, but really enjoy myself.

Just in case there are any folks from Ottawa out there: the fundraiser is at the St. Louis bar and Grill (399 Elgin street).  If you are in town: I hope to see you there!

I have two kids, 7 & 4..and that first moment when you leave the house as a woman and not a mommy is an important step. It will be hard, your heart strings might tug a bit...but thats okay, don't let it engulf you so much you forget that your supposed to have fun....have an awesome time!!!
