Going Vegetarian - as of today

Okay, so last night on date night my husband basically says to me "Hey babe, I am going to go vegetarian for a month... but you don't have to."

The hell?

See.... my man is a fricking carnaviore.  Like he hates veggies. So... let's just say it's out of the blue. He's doig it for a few reasons. A) he wants to cut down on red meat eventually. B) to see if he can do it and C) to prove to all of those holier than thou vegetarians that it isn't that hard. And since I support my man: I decided to go vegetarian too.

One month. We end this at Thanksgiving.

I can do this. Really I can.

Help me.

Oh there's still so much food without meat... ;) When you say Vegetarian...like only Fruits and Veggies? Cos I could see just cutting out all the meat in your diet...that'd be WAY easier. ;) Good luck!!

1.5 weeks tops. Other things you two can try, walk or ride a bike to work for 1 month. Use candles for light for a month. Home school your kids for a month. No TV for a month. No video games for a month. Both of you two go gay for month. The posibilities are endless. Just be happy with each other, and love each other. Thickness or thin.

What type of vegitarian? Vegan (sp?) or vegi light? At the end of the month, when you guys decide to pig on on meats, you are going to have the shits for like a week. You system will actually be in shock, so just swing back into meats slowly... Good Luck.

You don't happen to go to a chiropractor in the Glebe do you? My ex works downtown and she just went into vegan/cleansing mode. First thing my daughter said when I picked her up for the weekend was 'Please tell me you have meat in the fridge'

if we weren't intended to eat animals....God wouldn't have made them taste so delicious between two pieces of bread with some cheese. good luck though. I did this for a month or so when I was in high school. It wasn't too bad.

I went veg for a while and my hair started to fall out until I figured out how to get enough protein with other foods. Make sure you study up first. Good luck!

Good luck with your meat free diet. If you need me I'll be pan frying a t-bone steak in olive oil with mushrooms and onions.

Good luck with the change of diet. It's not all that hard really. Mrs.plato and I go through phases of vegetarianism a few times a year, just out of a craving for veggies & fruit. It's especially easy since you're only ditching meat and not eggs and cheese.

I coud be a vegetarian, I suppose, cuz I don't eat red meat and could do without the rest. But, I could only eliminate meat cuz I get most of my whole proteins from dairy products. What out! You might like it....

Oh, and if you're interested here is a really good (kinda fast) cookbook "Vegetarian Express" Give it a looky. One of the things I like about this cookbook is it gives you a pantry list of all the things you'll need from the store. It gives you a break down of calories, protein, cholesterol, carbs.... J, you know if you can't stick with it, it's still a good thing to take time off of meat. Take a break from meat for a week, or more and then when/if you want to go back, go. It's not a law that you have to stay meatless everyday. I have a trick I do....it's sooooo good when you need to taste BACON!....lol Liink: http://morningstarfarms.com/product_detail.aspx?family=934&id=352 I make egg salad, tomato sandwich and use the fake bacon. Just a little bit goes a long way. It helps give that ymmm taste for those times of need. Don't over due on the fake meat foods, loaded with funky stuff. All the best to you two = )
