Check it out, it's about in-game ads. Here's a quote:

What can we expect in the future? I expect that in game ads are going to be more dependant on the information on your gamercard, than on your geographic location or time of day. Think about it. My gamercard holds a ton of information. My gamertag for one. You can see what games I play, and how often, which can be used to determine basic demographics. If you know that 85% of people who play sports games are male under 25 (I am making this number up), and my gamercard has predominantly sports games... well you know I am likely to be a male under 25, even if I am currently playing a game that is not a sports game. Or if we know that females over 18 are the predominant users of casual games, and that is all that is in my library, again you can make certain assumptions. You also know what games I am “missing” from the publisher’s library. If I have a whole bunch of FPS games, except a FPS title from the publisher that has bought adspace, why not an ad for that game that I am missing? Or to notify me in game that there is DLC for another game in my library?

so what doyou think of in game ads?

i think in game ads could be annoying. i would like a content notification instead of having to check id also like to buy stuff from the game instead of going back to the 360 menu rock band figured out how to do it, by putting the store in our game menu and we can buy them there instead of going to the 360 menu. i love it. maybe if the game has a spot on the main menu for advertising it wouldn't be bad but anywhere were im playing is a no no

just like on tv, I pretty much ignore them. Especially if it was during an fps I am to busy looking to complete the level/objective to stop and read an add about Guns and ammo or something... (yes I know this will probably not happen, but...) If they help keep the cost of games down, or from going up...then It might be something ok..

I wish all the in game ads mirrored real life. Same for player names in sport games. I play Madden, because it's the real player names. I avoid games without real people names. Advertising, I'd love to see a Coca Cola billboard or an ad for Victoria Secret lingerie in Liberty City. Although the hoax ads in GTA4 are classic. Sprunk instead of Sprite? Love it.... :)
