EDIT: if you havne't paid for the Art Aution: check the linky for information!

Watching people freeze their ass in Times Square got me thinking. Why would anyone go to Times Square in NYC on New Year's Eve? 10 hours in the cold: surrounded by douchebags. You ca't go pee anywhere.... and why? to see the ball drop. I saw the ball drop and I was in bed eating pie with my gorgeous man. It seems like New Years Eve is THE day that there really is pressure to do something big. I like to mark the day by thinking about the year past, and to plan and make goals for the year ahead. Now that that's all done: I can think about better things.

Tomorrow is E's birthday! Yup: 2 years ago I was having contractions: played FFXII all day cause I knew it was my last day of uninteruppted gaming. Tomorrow one of her little buddies is coming over after naps for a wee party. Bit of cake: no presents please! It's more of a day for Sean and I, but it should be fun. She is drawing pictures, sunshines with faces. Hard to believe that in the last year she has learned to walk, run, draw, give hugs, talk up a storm, count, stick stickers, learned her ABCs etc. She's a big, big girl!

Taking in New Years Eve in Times Square is something that is on my bucket list, but with a big HOWEVER. I won't do it until we are well enough off to be able to afford a place right within walking distance to the street party, and can be warm, happy, and with empty bladder whenever we want to, but still be there for the dropping of the ball. When will that be...oh, a good 20+ years, but that's ok...I can wait. :)

Dont forget that in Times Sq you are basically in cattle pens all day and can't leave. I work with some retired cops that worked it a few times and they said it is hell.

We went down town Toronto one year to see the new years celebration once and that was it. It totally sucked. All the acts you see on TV, those are not happening live, they happened earlier in the day. About the only thing that happened was we stood in this huge damn crowd of people, saw one act, a DJ no less and froze our asses off for the sake of counting backwards from 10 for the TV cameras. It was a total sham and I'd never do it again. I figured the Times Square thing is pretty much the same deal so we won't ever make th eeffort to attend that one. I'd rather stay here in Cali in my warm house and watch all those other fools freeze their assess of.
