Erica decided to feel her Betta.... and gave little Frogger all of the food.

Any idea on the little guys' prognisis? When will he die if he's gonna bite it?

if you scooped all of the food out, he might be ok. it's dangerous over feeding becasue the food breaks down and decomposes in the water. if you got most of it out, just do a water change every couple days for the next two weeks. one time i had a 45 gal. long tank as the my headboard. i get a call from my wife while i was at work. my son 4 yr. old son (now 11) was jumping on my bed and did a header into the tank and put huge crack in it.. it was not only the demise of the tank, but the fish as well. some of them i had as long as ten years. kids...gotta love 'em. that way you don't shoot them. :)

oh...and only change 1/2 the water at a time. that's usually to much water to change, but betta's are very hearty.

i've had a bunch of them. they're pretty tough. overfeeding fish is usually a problem, like wamama said, because it contaminates the water.

@wamam87, was it a water bed, too? This is all sounding a little kinky :)

sorry, regular old boring bed. of course i did have to see my son's head to verify it was his head banging off the headboard while i was at work...

I suggest going out and buying another Betta, preferably one of the same sex as the one you have. Place the new one in the tank with "Frogger", Being Betta those territorial drives should kick in and they should begin to fight. This will serve two befits. 1) it will toughen up the new kid...or "fish" as he is called in the yard. and 2) it will help Frogger work off all of that excess grub he's been eating. and as an added bonus, the second Betta can serve as a "frogger" stand in in the event of a glutinous death. Bonus Bonus...you may have a chance to explain the "circle of Life" to your young-ens sooner than expected. ;) I am of course, completely and totally talking out of my ass, good luck, hope it pulls through

@midnighter yup... that's my man! I think he's more popular on 2old2play than I am! But you know... he does silly shit like "research" and "attempts to understand his audience" that I don't have the patience for...

@ wamam87, I am just surprised that having fish tank head board, that your son was the first one to bump his head on it. LOL
