Trying to get in Shape...

Yep, I am trying to get healthier... . Okay, I will admit it. Working out is great, it's healthy, I feel better blah blah blah. I will be honest.

I want to look better naked.

I mean really? Why else would we work out? I mean if I want to reach my goal of being mistaken for Ms Marvel as I walk down Ottawa streets, I have some fucking WORK to do.

I have put on a few of the pounds I lost through feeding Erica and the pregnancy (yes, I lost fat while knocked up: gestational diabetes and walking 3x a week AND watching evey bite you eat like a hawk will do that to you). I should have expected it, and now that I know I can lose weight it's all about the willpower. So far so good. I try to do 45 minutes of elliptical trainer 5X a week. One of those nights (Sunday) I plan to do an hour. Last Sunday I flaked out once I got to 600 calories (as per the machine), which was around 50 minutes. Anyone know how close these read outs are to reality?

So, on a 45 minute workout: I am doing around 520ish calories. My problem? I am expecting instant results. Like I want to see that scale go from A to B right away. I guess it's a patience thing. I am considering hiding the scale until sometime in November... then seeing whatI lost from now until then. Problem is I may not lose as much as I want (if anything) then WAH!!! I have been watching what I eat, but I also don't want to cut out ALL treats. If you do that, then when you want to do maintenence, aren't you kinda screwed? Gain it all back?

But I will get where I want to be one day. It's just juggling priorities: I want to game, I want to work out, I want to spend time with the man... it's hard to do everything. As the management for the Federal Civil Service says "Everything's a priority: you have to do it all!" (note: work=frustration)

EDIT: 3x a week? Bwa-hahahahaha... when I was knocked up: we were walking 3x a DAY even on Christmas day...

You should weigh yourself at most once a week. You aren't going to noitce the little day to day changes and if one day you wake up a pound or two heavier than you were the day before, it'll just drive you crazy when it really has nothing ot do with weight loss. It could be water weight, bloating or whatever. Weigh yourself every monday morning as you get out of the shower and get out of bed or whatever. Once a week is frequent enough.

pics when you think you look like Ms.Marvel in the spandex and boots...or it did not happen... LOL Think of exercising like trying to get that achievement for the 360 you have been killing yourself over... This from the guy that creates his own gravitational field...

500 calorie deficit per day will give you about a pound per week.

do NOT deny yourself some treats, just small and infrequent. Take a "diet holiday" once a week. By that, I mean, eat normally and have that treat. but the exercise! Good for you!

Slow and steady wins the race. Ignore the scale, note weight changes by how your clothes fit. Best results come from a lifestyle change, not a quick results diet. Don't overdue the workout, make it be something you want to do 20 mins a day 3x a week
