YAY! A good night last night

My husband and I talked long and hard about how to get Erica to sleep, and last night we decided to let her cry a little more. The idea was to put her down all fed and happy, then if she woke up before 2AM, so go in, make sure she's OK, give her a bit of love then to walk away and let her cry for about a half hour. If she wasn't down by then, feed her or calm her down. Not for everyone, granted, but she was just getting worse and worse at night.

And you know what?

She did it! My little hunny bunny went to sleep all by herself! w00t!  It was a half hour of crying, but she did so well after.  I hope this works out this weekend. When I type it, it sounds a bit mean, but sometimes discipline is hard to mete out.  She needs to learn how to sleep all by herself, and she was getting worse and worse with me putting her to sleep.  I hope this works.  She is such a happy girl during the day, so I know that there isn't anything wrong with her. I think she's getting to the point where nursing isn't as sleep inducing as it used to be, and that's throwing her for a loop.

My husband is awesome. He told me to go downstairs, and to play Two Worlds on line so that I wouldn't have to hear the screaming.  So: I had my first multi-player experience last night with Polteg Ice. my my.  I only died a dozen times and I don't think I killed Polet Ice. He killed me a few times. Or my character commited suicide by walking into his arrows.

So that's about it: thanks for the comments on yesterday's blog: it really helped to know that I wasn't alone, and that everyone goes through this.  Cross your fingers for this weekend.

We 'furberized' our first son when he started eating solid food. The first couple nights are hard because you want to go in there and check on them. But by the end of the week he was sleeping through the night.

We finally decided the same thing with daughter. As I mentioned earlier she woke up relentlessly too. We finally decided that she was waking up more for habit to see us, to reassure her instead of for the feeding. Not that she wouldn't eat if you didn't offer it to her. We weren't as lucky to have her sleep within a half hour, but withing 2 weeks we had changed her sleep routine and gotten her to sleep till about 6:00 am. HUGE improvement. Good luck. If she goes back again, just remember to tough it out. One time going back in can break the running streak...at least it did with my little darling a few times.
