Yuck... T minus 2 Months (and a bit)

Yup, good news and bad news 202p... in 2 months (and a bit) I go back to work.  Bad news, I won't be able to access 2o2p from work, good news for you guys, I won't be able to blog from work (ha ha...)

All kidding aside, what does it mean? It means when I go back to work, I will be working from 7:30 until 3:30; I'll probably be gone before she's up. I pick her up it will be oh... quarter to -  ten to 4 in the afternoon. She goes to be at 7:30. That is 3.5 hours a day with her plus weekends.  It's just really tough, how on Earth will she still love me as much as she does now, when I will barely see her?  Quitting my job is a non starter: I have a great career with the Federal Civil Service: lots of stability, lots of benefits.  If I quit now, due to the changing language requirements, I doubt I could ever get back in.

Another thing I am worried aobut is her development. Erica is a huge talker, I mean she is talking in sentences (16mo), she is a clever little girl. Will that trend continue if she doesn't have one on one care?  The daycare she is in looks really good. The ladies have been there for years, there is a great energy about the place, so that is a blessing.  I have to keep my head on straight. She will be with lots of other kids, and will have fun.

But I'm gonna miss her so much.

so: all you parents with kiddos in daycare, how do you do it?

It will be alright. I think all parents have these concerns. You will be surprised how well she does.

The social aspect of daycare has always been important to me. She will do great there! And I hear you about not having enough time. When we get home it's dinner, homework, read a book, then the fight to bed starts. That's less than three hours with me! No wonder they try to push bedtime off as far as possible!

Your daughter has gotten the benefit of being able to stay home with Mom way longer than most kids do...I'm sure she'll be fine =)

Not sure, My wife is a stay at home mom, but I work 12 hours a day and she still comes running & screaming to me when I get home everyday.

Erica will only get better and better going to day care. It is true what you say about talking in sentences. I heard it. She is amazing! Yes, you will miss her! But she will be fine, and so will you!

JeepChick hit the proverbial nail on the head. socially, she will develop which is vitally important at her age. My eldest son was much the same as he was taling at a young age (Good old Baby Einstein dvd's helped there too). Once he started going to nursery he developed at an even faster rate. He's now 3.5 and about to start school in Sept. We've been told he may have to skip his first year for fear of getting too bored. Brains must be from his mother.....
