Stranglehold Demo - My Thoughts

After an hour long, 1.3 Gig download, I start the demo for John Woo's Stranglehold.

My roommate, the game store manager warns me, 'Dude, my employees told me that game s u c k s.'.

Sweet.
I can't wait to be disappointed.

The game goes through about 10 different screens to let me know every 'effin company that worked on it, and then the option to 'START' comes up.

Niiiiice.

The action starts immediately & even though the learning curve is steep, there aren't too many controls to learn & I start makin' bodies hit the floor QUICK.

Diving over tables, through piles of exploding fruit, I hit the RB button and enter TEQUILA TIME, which is just a redo of time slow down from The Matrix or Max Payne.

With my cat-like reflexes, I start putting pistol bullets through foreheads & eye sockets. I jump to the left and blow out someone's kneecap with the last slug in my clip. Blood spatters everywhere.

I think everything is going well until from my left field of vision, a thug busts through a warehouse door. Blow his brains out? Not this time. Right before I pull my hair trigger, I glance upwards & see a sparkle... I aim & shoot.

The sparkle turns out to be the bracket for an air conditioning unit & when my bullet hits it, the unit falls, crushing the perps head & smashing his body.

SWEEEET.
Like McDonalds, I'm lovin' it.

Uh-oh.
Is that a shotgun?
Yes it is.
Make my day...punk.

The rest of the game follows suit.
The enviroment is insane with the amount of crap you can destroy or use to your advantage. From falling signs to well-placed propane tanks, you'll have a blast (pun intended) kickin' serious ass.
The camera angles are a little annoying at first, making me a little motion sick, but once I had played a few minutes, I couldn't get enough Tequila.

Hope you enjoy this game & I look forward to hearin' your thoughts..

I was pleasantly kicked in the face with flavor. I'd have to say it was pretty damn good. I won't pick it up at launch (bioshock takes priority), but I'll definitely get it used or if the price comes down. The multiplayer looks sick too.

Yeah this game's a must-buy for me. I was showing the game to a friend yesterday and when he got to the 'showdown' sequence I think he pooped himself in excitement.

I liked the demo, liked shooting other things to kill people. DIDN'T like the constant fire, no reloads. But it was fashioned after/inspired by John Woo films... so in that it is right on.
