How are the higher end Epi's? I was considering getting a real Gibson Les Paul 70's tribute but the $1200 price tag is making me cringe. I just don't want to settle on an Epi and be sorry later. Although zZounds has a 12 month no interest pay plan right now on Gibsons that keeps tempting me.

I highly recommend epiphone. The Zakk is actually my 2nd Epi LP. Both are chinese made, but fell & play great. The newer Zakk Models have the active emg's. My other LP has Gibson Burstbuckers (fabulous pickups BTW), but I hear the epi burstbucker clones are nice too. The one caveat to the Zakk is that it's heavy as fuck since it's not chambered for weight relief like most of the newer LP's. If you want an LP with EMG's, you might also want to look at the LP Prophecy Ex model. Another new model you may want to look at is the Matt Heafy signature LP. It was just unveiled at winter NAMM a few weeks back. It's a black custom with EMG's & a really sweet sculpted heel joint allowing better upper fret access. It also comes in a 7 string version. I'm going to be pre-ordering one of those myself very soon. I just found a deal I couldn't pass up on the Zakk. Her's a couple of pics of that new Matt Heafy model...

is the body of the guitar solid? i mean does it like an acoustic guitar in which it has hollow inside. besides, does this guitar made to be customized or it's into mass production? i'm interested to know since some of my friend's relatives are planning to buy soon. buy targeted facebook fans

It's a solid hunk of mahogany. There is no chambering. however, some of the other newer epiphone models are "strategically routed" for weight relief. Meaning that they do arve our certain parts of the inner body in order to lighten the guitar. Lespauls are notoriously heavy. from my experience, this newer method of chambering the bodies has very little noticeable effect on the tone of the guitar. as for customization, any guitar can be customized, it's just a matter of how much skill you have in doing the mods or how much money you have to spend paying someone else to do it for you. This particular model is pretty top of the line as far as the hardware goes.
