Ridicule me all you want, but i grew up on 80's "Hair Metal". You know that whole hard rock scene that was so huge back in the day. Bands from the L.A. sleaze scene Provided me with a soundtrack for my pre-pubescent youth. It also left a big impression on me as to how I approach my own music. Which I don't seem to put much effort into as I used to. Priorities change with age I guess. But that's not my point. Over the past few weeks there has been a sudden rash of New music coming out from some of those seminal bands from my wasted youth.

I'll start with the new Motley Crue "saints Of Los Angeles"

Imagine, if you will, what might happen if you took "Shout At The Devil", "Girls Girls Girls",  "Dr. Feelgood"  & then put them in a blender. This is pretty much what you wind up with on SOLA. Perhaps the best Crue effort yet.

Next Whitesnake "Good To Be Bad"

What more can I say This one takes you straight back to their triumphant self titled effort back in 88' I believe it was. With a little bit of flavor from "slide it in" thrown in for good measurre. The lineup is now Featuring Doug Aldrich (hurricane) & Reb Beach (Winger). I must say it's wonderful to hear Reb's amazing playing sans Kip Winger.

Las but Definately not least....Dokken "Lightning Strikes Again"

With George Lynch not being around for this album, I was a bit Skeptical. But gunslinger Jon Levin (Doro Pesch "Force MAjere") Seems to be channeling George's Trademark sound. Mr Scary's got nothing on this guy. Once again this hearkens back to Dokken when they were at their best.

So to anybody with an itch to take a trip back in time should check these selections out.

You need help. Put away the jean jacket, cut the mullet, unpeg your pants and step away from the Trans Am.

Any of these are 10x better than anything Jack White or Serj Tankjian puts out.

I love Whitesnake. Not so much the stuff from 88 on, but the previous albums were awesome. Come and Get it, Love Hunter, Ready n Willin' and one of the great Live albums, Live...in the heart of the city. Motley Crue can suck it though. They haven't been good since Too fast for Love. With a couple of songs from Shout at the Devil thrown in.
