Airline Voucher Conundrum

I have a what-could-be major problem.

I was scheduled to attend the CPL Summer tournament in Dallas Labor Day weekend.  The tournament has been cancelled [just the GoW part] due to lack of teams [I think only 5 signed up].  So my leader [PMS Athena Twin] asked me to cancel the ticket and make sure they put the voucher in her name.....

They can't put the voucher in her name.

So I have a ticket voucher for $350 in my name.  I can't pay her for it - She bought the original ticket.  I can't transfer it.  And all of this comes right after I went to PMS Casuals last week - meaning I am no longer going to compete in GoW.

I sent her a text message letting her know that I cancelled it but the name transfer was a no-go.  I am afraid she is going to ask me to pay for the damn thing, which I don't have the money to do.  If I can't pay for it, it will lock me into playing on a PMS Team in another tournament.  Not sure what to do here - don't feel like I have any options.

Any advice? Has this happened to anyone else?

Who bought the ticket? I think you can change it to the name of the person who paid for the ticket.

She bought it - and no, they wouldn't put the voucher in her name. Something about homeland security or something. It was non-refundable is the reason - It could have been refunded to her, but she booked one that wasn't...ooooooh, crappers

Guess she shouldnt have been so cheap to buy a non-refundable ticket. IMO you are under no obligation to pay her for this, unless you use the voucher for something else and then you should repay her. But if you do not or never intend to use it then you shouldn't have to pay for it. The circumstances are beyond your control so she shouldnt expect repayment if it will go unused.

yeah if it a non-refundable ticket they won't transfer it, but you can sometimes pay a small fee of like 50 bucks to make that ticket become a transferable one. I've had that happen to me before and I paid I think 75 or 80 bucks to take care of the problem.

Caesar - I am just a little burnt out with my PMS team. I have been going to tournaments with them for 6 months now on GoW. I love the game, but eventually the learning curve is gone and only those players that know every trick and glitch really excel. I am not bashing the tricks [i.e. cover to shotgun pop, makes the player look like a rabid spider monkey = one shot kills 90% of the time], I am just so psyched about COD4 that i can't really concentrate on GoW. It is one of those things where I can play a game I love - but am not that good at - or I can compete in a game I am tired of - but pwn at....... Throw into that the whole [ooo girls play Gears?] thing I go through at EVERY DAMN tournament, you get one fed up lady.

Jeep - you're not at fault here so you shouldn't be liable. Twin should eat the cost in my opinion since she bought the non-transferable ticket.

agreed, if you've tried all you can and its documented on the airlines sites and whathave you.. that you can not transfer a voucher to someone else, I feel you've done all you can to fix the situation and although the outcome may suck.... its none the less the end result... I would have her do the further research to get HER money back if she is so inclined. :)

IF the voucher is from AA (American), you should be abble to give it to someone else. However you have to go with that person to a ticket counter (airport) or sales office. I used to work for them and I know it was possible.
