Don't Plant the Bomb???

Sabatoge, Headquarters: Two of my favorite game types.  Objective based which I prefer because it brings the focus for the win to one location where peeps rush to like a magnet.  I've noticed a trend though, that I am not fond of.  Sandbagging the match to get maximum kills.  This usually pops up on the last spawn of HQ or the whole game for Sabatoge.  It turns the match into an long Team Deathmatch, which would be fine, if I wanted to play TDM.

In Headquarters, it's not so bad, they may run the clock out, but it's hard to hold off a team from the HQ spot for that long.  But Sabatoge is most affected.  My goal in Sab?  Grab the bomb, push to the desginated plant site, plant it, guard it, KA-BOOOOM.  When I mention in-game that we should plant and they reply that no, they want to get a bunch of kills, I of course retort - You should go play TDM then.  That is apparently the wrong response.  The only good reason I have heard so far for the kill-boosting is that TDM has a limit on the number of possible kills for the match.  The thing is, you can always pop into another match. Or do they just want the bragging rights [like Shipment] - "Man, I went 122-40 on Overgrown."  I recognize this early in the game when, especially on Bog, I see 3-4 people lining up with sniper rifles in the back.  They will stay there the whole match.  1 sniper is fine, but do we really need 4?

I try to plant the bomb anyways.  Which usually works - until I get on Overgrown, or Assault, or one of the maps where you can jump to odd ass places.  I can't do the jump glitches - and I hesitate to call them glitches at all because I don't think they are an abuse of the game.  So Mr. Bomb-Carrier gets the bomb.  Puts it out of reach and then kills themself.  Greeeeeeeaaat.  Now I have no choice but to TDM the game until Sudden Death occurs.  I can see how this makes killing easy, there are always a handful of schmucks [me included] still trying to get the bomb and plant it.  If it does get planted, the TDM guys pull back and let them diffuse it.

So what is more important: K/D Ratio > Win/Loss Ratio

Don't take this as bitching.  Or having a problem with pubbing.  I am still enjoying the game when this happens.  For some reason text doesn't seem to convey my debate nature.  I like to put points out there just to talk about them.  Get other's opinions.

I guess I just prefer to blow things up and end it immediatly, to the slow back and forth of killing to win.  I prefer nukes to troops.  :)

PREACHING TO THE CHOIR! I got a ridiculous tongue-lashing from some donkeys on overgrown because I wouldn't kill farm at the end of a lopsided HQ match. The last HQ was on the 2nd floor above the B point, and they kept trying to block me out of the doors. I thought it was hilarious how mad they got. All I could say was "I can get my kills without pulling that crap". I secured the HQ and out came the N-bombs. Huh?

I find its not too bad if you have a group of six good people (clanmates, 2o2p...) and then do sabotage in public matches. Raw, unprotected public sabotage matches are the suck though.

It is annoying at times especially when you have an ass hat that has to let everyone know how he pwned them because he had the most kills even though he was on the losing team.

I can see racking up some kills for air strike and chopper to make the push... but if thats not the plan, i get annoyed too.

I, for one, can't stand that shit, plant the damn thing and hold it down till the bomb blows. I got my 55 (fuck flipping) why do I need the points? or kills? Thats not the object. Now you got me all worked up.

I tried that sobe life water last week and it tastes like piss with a touch of jizz. If that's your thing so be it. The aftertaste burned a hole in the back of my throat. The rest of your debate reminds me of attack and defend on Calipso Casino in R6:V. Get the package and then sit on it for 19 minutes. I prefer to get the objective when playing an objective game, but I'm as guilty as anyone else when it comes to occasionally padding the kill/death ratio.

Things like this are the reason I quit playing Call of Duty 3. I don't play many objective games in CoD4, mostly because there's only S&D in hardcore, but also for fear of things like this happening. In CoD3, I was actually TK'd several times for capturing a flag.

LOL @ Big - Dear LORD! I am not BITCHING! Just making an observation. Anything honestly is better than Private matches. @ Mandingo - You don't like piss and jizz? huh....I could have sworn you did.

I just realized you were talking COD4, not H3. I owe it to you, J-Cat and others to at least go rent that...

I love HQ.. and domination... I can't stand TDM. I need an objective. But yeah... I agree: I think people forget what their goal should be. Anyway. This got me thinking I haven't played CoD in ages!

I'm with you, Sister. If there's a mission (and that's the game type I'm going to prefer) then I am going to fight to accomplish it - not sit in the corner somewheres and plink at bad guys.

It's hard enough as it is in Sabotage to plant the bomb and hold it to detonation. I don't understand why anyone would sit back and try to rack up kills. 30 minute games get tiring.

this is why I avoid headquarters and sabotage
