------------
Recently I starting seeing these odd, alternate universe kind of advertisements for a new show from HBO. They reminded me very much of Starship Troopers - treating the audience as if their world was our world.
I DVR'd the little 30 minute segment about the vampires and their concerns with the world. The premise is pretty cool - Japan perfected synthetic blood, so the Vamps felt comfy coming out of the casket and making the rest of the world aware of their existence. No longer needing real human blood, they assumed themselves to be less of a threat to mankind. They work, they play, they date, they do everything that the short-toothed peeps do. HBO has already set up websites and an entire Vamp online network. Vampire specific news and a dating service for humans (called Fangbangers) and Vampires.
They even have a lobbyist group: The American Vampire League.
I've always been interested in the idea of Vampires. No, I don't suck blood or fancy myself a DayWalker. But as a Archetype, I enjoy what vampiric qualities bring to a character. Their persona, their age and depth of experience, their physique. The element of supernatural, of powers and primal needs.
Yes, I read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I've also recently fallen in love with Anita Blake's interesting lady detective series. That style of novel is excellent to read over a weekend - or in my case a plane ride (sometimes I do hate that I read so fast, i finished Odd Thomas in 4 hours Sunday afternoon).
Anyways. This series looks interesting, a new twist on the timeless fable of Vampires.

Still no news on the job situation. We've got back up plans ready. Can't wait for the LAN.
