Jackie Robinson. They are altering his damn Hall of Fame plate to include the fact that he was the first African American player.

This is bullshit.

The man made it very very clear that he wanted the award to reflect that he got into the Hall of Fame not because of his race, but on the merit of his play.  He didn't want any reference to his race put on the plaque.

Now they are going back against a dead man's wishes. A man who I totally agree with. He was there because he was good enough. By adding the byline about his race, it makes it seem like Affirmitive Action.

I realize he was a pioneer. I realize he broke barriers. But the man said specifically when he was given the award that he DID NOT WANT any reference to his race on it.

Why would we go against his wishes?

I know that a lot of you are major sports buffs, I am not obviously. Maybe you could shed some light on this.

Everyone knows that he was one of the greatest athelets of all time. Those ass bags can put whatever they want on his plaque but most of us will always know of his true greatness as a human and it will be our duty to pass the info down the the younger ones.

Just another case of BS political correctness. God forbid we should do something that MIGHT offend somebody, even if it means we disrespect a dead mans wishes.

To not honor what this man requested is a slap in the face to his legacy and how HE wanted to be remembered.

That's a load of crap. There is always bullshit like that floating about. Being from Africa, I know all about it. I'm a white African btw, living in England now. Affirmative Action....what a crock of shit

It is total crap, to be sure. But it is also pretty much common knowledge in the MLB that it does not matter one bit what the players want on their plaque or bust. Ex.- The Hall has already said that when Roger Clemens is elected, which is now more of an if than it was when he first retired, that his bust will have a Red Sox hat on it despite Clemens pitching a yelling screaming fit that he wants it to have a Yankees hat.

I feel like we are rewriting history, and leaving the opinions of those that made history out of it.
