I can't believe that they are selling these things on eBay.  I know it's old news. I have tried to shrug it off but it pisses me off.  There is something about it that is so categorically WRONG.  Yes, it's against eBay policy to sell beta software or access.  Yes, it says in the IW Beta terms that you can't sell your token.  But this goes beyond breaking the rules.

Here is an exclusive oppurtunity that has been turned into a crapfest.  Yeah, I said it.  Go into any random room and you will find people that got the Beta by cheating.  They might be French, German, American...whatever.  They cheated to get it and that cheapens the experience for me.

If this trend continues I want to see more exclusive stuff up for sale on eBay.  How about an automatic in to the top 12 on America's Next Top Model?  How about a ticket to meet one of those idiots from The Hills?  How about Tammy Faye's used eyelashes?  I mean REALLY the crap up there is INSANE.  Who buys this stuff?  Isn't this stuff you used to have to EARN....or at least be in the right place in at the right time to get it?  [I have one of Tammy's eyelashes, I met her in a diner in South Charlotte, she told me and my mom some stories and started crying.  She used a papertowel to wipe her eyes.....and YES, I kept it....it makes me laugh.]

What do you think?

Damn that would ruin someones beta expirience. I know if I was playing it would ruin mine to find this out.

Ultimately, if there is a market for it, then it's going to happen. There are people who, either due to commitments or sheer laziness, did not get into the beta via the official route. Would it be any different if the people weren't realizing a gain on it? If they just gave it away? That is usually more paletable, but has no different impact on those outside the transaction than if money changes hands. I wonder why that is... *shrugs*

Since you asked, what I think is....if people want to pay to be in the beta, who cares? It's still one person playing under one account. And as for 'earning' the beta spot, well let's be honest here--who exactly 'earned' their spot?

People did it with the Halo 3 beta. If people are stupid enough to buy entrance into a free beta it's their own damn fault.

I can't see how this would cheapen the experience...The fact that there are tens of thousands of people in the beta makes it not that special to begin with. If the beta is worth so much to someone that they choose to pay for it, fine, buy it and make someone else a couple bucks in the process.

Don't forget that the site experienced a bunch of problems such as losing beta signup info, going down, etc. IW offered no confirmation that you were even registered. The only correspondence I received was to notify me that I was in. To some people, this is their Halo. I see nothing wrong with them paying to be first to play. I'm not sure why it ruins your experience. I find it comical that someone paid upwards of $100 to play a game which took me only 3 minutes to register. There are definitely some assholes in the beta, but that's live. Shoot me a FR if you want to play with an adult asshole, I play most nights.

I agree...we live in a free market society. As long as no one gets hurt and both parties are willing, I don't see the issue.

Teehee, you kept someone's eyelashes. I once bought a jar of Chuck Norris tears. I should have known it was a fake, Chuck Norris doesn't cry.

I don't see how this is "cheating". People on this very site have given "extra" tokens to other members, the only difference is no cash changed hands. Does the fact that they're 2o2p make them more "worthy" of entrance than the person who wins that auction. One token, one gamertag, who cares how they got it? The cheaters are the ones who used the exploit to get in without even having a token, and IW is tracking them down slowly but surely and banning their accounts, so "justice" is being served.

It's all about supply and demand. If some college kid needs 40-50 bucks and they got something that someone else wants badly, why not sell it off? Doesn't really bother me at all.

Just FYI - These are the cheaters I am talking about "The cheaters are the ones who used the exploit to get in without even having a token, and IW is tracking them down slowly but surely and banning their accounts, so "justice" is being served." If you want to sell your token, yeah I guess it doesn't matter, I just hate the bragging about it. "Yeah, man, I totally duped IW and now all my friends have the beta....HAHA" I had offered not only my extra tokens, but my FIRST token to other people on this site. Offering your beta code to a friend is one thing - glitching the system to get in is another. My first post with a negative rating - WOOT - I should get an achievement for that!
