She has been holding her belly the last few days and complaining about her pee pee and we think she has a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). For those that have had one before, you know this can be painful. For her there are more underlying concerns. For her, and her disease, this could be the beginnings of kidney issues. I'm not saying it is, but one thing could lead to the other VERY easily. One of the main problems for kids with mitochondrial disease is organ failure, and this can happen at any time. GI failure (dysmotility), liver failure and kidney failure are the more common ones. Well, we are taking to the doctor to help alleviate any concerns we may have. I can't stress it anymore that this may be nothing more than us being concerned parents. UTI's are nothing to play around with, as it were, but the overlooked or common problems are the ones that cause the greatest threats with her. Maybe lift a prayer around 10:50AM EST this morning. Thank you to you all, we love you and God Bless.
