Divine Appointments

Well, reflecting on what happened last week, being restless in my mind to share, I just wanted to maybe explain or describe what a divine appointment is. A divine appointment is something that only God can provide, and only God can make happen. I had no idea I was going to share the gospel with David. As a matter of fact, I didn't even plan on it. But, GOd has his own plans, and His plans are perfect. Now, David did not accept Christ that night, but the seed was planted and God will water it. I, myself, can not plan a divine appointment. I can pray for one, but not make it occur. It is more than coincedence. It is more than happenstance. It's perfect, Godly timing. You will know when it happens. As I was talking to David, I was not in control of what was being said. It may be hard to believe, but true. Words came out, but not my words. God was speaking through me and through me, He was sharing His living word. It's hard to explain, but it was wonderful. After it was over, and we got out of the vehicle, and he left, I wanted to go and share more. A divine appointment is just that, a meeting that only God can plan, carry out and finish.

Let me use an example. When Jesus was on the cross, what do you think he was doing? Suffering? Yes. Dying? Yes. But more importantly, He was working. He still had one last soul to bring to Him. As He was hanging there, barely conscious, a man, a thief, a murderer, a liar...a sinner asked him "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Luke 24:42. Clinging to life, at a point where He could have said "It is finished.", he looked over at Him, with the love of God in his eyes and said "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 24:43 Done. Sealed with blood. Three verses later, it was over as He said "'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, he breathed his last." Luke 24:46. That man is now in heaven, forgiven of his sins.

So there it is. No matter where you are in life, no matter what you have EVER done, you can be saved. We are not promised tomorrow. We are not promised the breath we just took. We are not promised the thought we just had. Please make sure your eternal future is taken care of.

I leave you with this short video and words to the song Thief. Please, at least read the words, if you don't lilsten to the song.

I am a thief, I am a murderer
Walking up this lonely hill
What have I done? I don't remember
No one knows just how I feel
and I know that my time is coming soon.
It's been so long. Oh, such a long time
Since I've lived with peace and rest
Now I am here, my destination
guess things work for the best
and I know that my time is coming soon

Who is this man? This man beside me
They call the King of the Jews
They don't believe that He's the Messiah
But, somehow I know it's true.
And they laugh at Him in mockery,
and beat Him till he bleeds
They nail Him to the rugged cross,
and raise Him, they raise Him up next to me
My time has come, I'm slowly fading
I deserve what I receive
Jesus when You are in Your kingdom
Could You please remember me
and He looks at me still holding on
the tears fall from His eyes
He says I tell the truth
Today, you will live with Me in paradise
and I know that my time is coming soon
and I know paradise is coming soon.

END OF LINE

I kinda got a little teary eyed reading the lyrics there....shows the love for the sinner....not the sin.
