I realize
Another year gone
The time does fly.
I also know
A difficult nod
They are not mine
On loan from God.
But, as long as He allows
I will enjoy
The love the laughter
My girl and boys.
You watch them play
They read and learn
Grow up and go
To take their turn.
I come back to now
Where my hope resides
And wrap myself in
This father’s pride.
