Shared on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 22:57so I managed to save some face on that failure of a side job I mentioned last week. Got my hands on some file recovery software and was able to bring back about 60 songs they had lost, turns out they had the rest on CD's....*whew*...I feel alot better about that now. i still have some work to do because they're missing pics as well, so I'll need to bring those back at another date, they're having services for the rest of the week. One can only hope things can behave that long.
After that fiasco, I decided to do some shopping. Picked up Mario Kart for the Wii. A fun game indeed, but I can't wait to build a group of online buddies to play with, that's where the magics gonna happen. once we get a decent enough size of numbers in the forum, I'd like to try and schedule a mario kart wii night where we all meet up and split up and play the game (kind of like the COD4 Meet and Greet we did several months back. That was fantastic fun.)
The Wii game itself has a great feel to it. I told myself the main reason I bought this was because you could use the classic controller or the gc controller, but the moment I started using the wii wheel, I was taken by it. The game has such a natural feel to it. Here's why:
a) you don't have to hold it at an awkward angle to play it. The more you tilt the top of the wheel towards the TV, the tighter your steering gets, the more you lean the wheel back, the looser it is. I love that.
b) The controls are simple, one to accelerate, and one to fire weapons. If you play into Automatic sliding mode, they have a manual mode for fine tuners.
The Channel you install is nice as well, it makes it VERY easy to invite anyone who may have Mario Kart (who is also on your Wii friends list) into your Kart friends list.
I hate that Nintendo is doing this "one code per game" rule, but at least they're discovering new ways to connect people. If you're in a person's Wii friend list, you can be added easily, no worries there. Now if they'd just go back and fix SSB:Brawl to do that.
The online play is great ;y improved it seems, as long as you can connect. I did have a hard time getting on the WiFi connection, but I think it was my crappy Windstream DSL connection, and not nintendo's fault.
Alas, Mario Kart Wii will be the last game I buy for awhile.
I started a diet on Sunday, as my health has vastly gone south over the past year, a bad relationship and a busted knee led me to fall of the wagon and I finally decided it's time to get back on. I've never been one to care much about looks, as long as i'm not naked I'm ok. However, health is very important to me. So I'm taking steps in the right direction. I'm still trying to figure out the exercise thing, the best way to lose my weight is through cardio, but I'm having a hard time finding something that doesn't stress the knees too much. Any suggestions would be nice. The reason i'm not buying any games soon is because I'm incorporation purchasing of said games into a rewards system. I did this on my last diet round (lost 40 lbs that time, gained it all back though), and it was a great motivator. Create a list of minor to major items. Then split them up into groups. 5 lbs, 10 lbs, or weight goals.
5 lbs are minor things, low cost stuff no more than $20 (maybe a movie or new CD)
10 lbs are little higher up on the list, no more than $70 (this includes your average 360 game)
Weight Goals, this tends to be a big goal and would require a nice enough reward...who knows what that will be, haven't figured that out yet.
It really is a motivator, when buying stuff to continue your hobbies banks of your weight loss, it tends to make your determination a little stronger.
I'm signed up on Traineo.com for my dietary and fitness tracking. It's a nice community and well worth a look if you're the health type. They have a Wii fanatics group over there as well.
If anybody has some resources I could try to help make the trek easier, I'd appreciate it. Atta boy's also are accepted.
Good gaming all! See ya in a couple of days.
