1. We drink booze.
2. We play games in a social environment.
3. Our wrists hurt like hell when we're done.
Really it's the same if you think about it. :)
Next up, I was having a more somber thought as I walked to work today. I was trying to figure out why I wasn't all that happy to see my new company's flag being raised on their building this morning (the company I work for was acquired on Monday by a much larger national chain (names omitted for obvious reasons)). And at first I thought it was the impending severance that's expected but we're fairly well compensated for that so I kept thinking through it.
What I came up with is that it's the not the loss of job that matters most to me - it's that I now have to work for a company that I didn't choose to interview with. That's not to say that I wouldn't have chosen to interview with them, but the fact remains that I didn't. And that sort of "forced" decision with no choice on my part is, I think, what bothers me most.
In any event, I expect I'll be relieved of that "non-choice" early next year when they tell our entire group to take a hike. We'll see.
Hope all is going well with all of you - I am having a blast with Halo 3 - it feels far more balanced to me than any multiplayer game I've ever played. Have a great day, all!
