Shared on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 15:37Yesterday I had to bury our dog, not sure what happened to her but it was not really expected. When I brought her in Sunday before going to the old lady's parents for Easter I could tell she was not feeling well instead of running up to me she just walked and it looked like she had lost allot of weight overnight. She came in got a drink and went upstairs and laid down when we got back I had noticed that she had hardly eaten or drank anything, which was not that unusual because she prefers to eat outside. It also turned out that she had gotten sick, and she did not really move when it was cleaned up with the shampooer that was when I got a bt worried.
Well later that night around 3 a.m. she came down to our room I saw her told hi and she laid on the floor so I thought maybe she was feeling better, unfortunately when I got up around 8:00 she would not move she had climbed up on the bed with me but she would not move at all, I tried to get her to drink some water but she would not. Within 30 minutes it had got worse ( I will spare you the details) I noticed that her eyes had gone cloudy, when that started I knew she was not going to make it. I told my woman that I did not think she would pull through, which got her crying some but she seemed to pull it together before she headed out to work. I kept going in and checking on her petting her every few minutes. She had forgotten something here so came back while she was in another room I heard something fall and looked and saw my dog sliding off the bed, I went in and checked on her and she was gone, so I hurried out and closed the door so she would not see before she went to work. This was around 9:00 so it was a crappy start to the day.
So I cleaned up did what had to be done set her on the back porch, left to go do some errands and stopped by to borrow a shovel from her dad, of course while I was there she called him and was trying to figure out how to get the money for a vet to see her. At the time I had not yet asked about the shovel and she did not talk to me so she did not know yet. By the time I left she called back and I talked to her and she said her cousin would help pay if Kandi (the dog) was ok when she got out..... I could not bring myself to tell her while she was at work over the phone and she said she was going to be out in about 10 minutes anyway.
So when I got home I went to the back yard and looked around for a place. By the time I got back up she was home I came in broke it to her only to find out she had made an appointment for the vet to see her, so I had to call cancel that and explain it to him. I buried her under the shadow of a tree where her favorite place to lay had been. So far my kids seem to be handling fine, but we will see. I knew it would happen one day but I expected at least 2 or 3 more years before I would have to worry about it.
Well thanks for reading and I hope your week goes better than mine has.
