If they can tie the story to the game-action, just right, Halo 4 Spartan Ops could become something pretty cool. We get five chapters each Episode with continuing Episodes. Pretty Interesting Concept.
The possibility of “60’s TV Batman-like” cliffhanger endings could be fun. (…You turn down a dark hallway… It’s blocked! You turn to see two sticky-suicide-grunts, they squeak ‘Demon’ and run at you… Freeze Frame - Tune In Next Time Kids to see if you Escape or Get Stuck?) LoL.
I’ll volunteer for the Great Lakes Drop.
It sounds as if we join up with a Reach-like Team of characters and patrol around inside the Requiem sphere. The video clips seem to show Covey and Promethean targets in Spartan Ops. I’m hoping they work it so you co-hero with the key characters, like running Nightfall with Jun. Maybe, the chapters might link together like the story in ODST, …Rookie! Go with Dare, find Buck…, I’m only guessing at this point. But, if they can keep the gameplay fresh and pull the player into the story enough, it’s got potential. The Halo campaign has mostly been a section-by-section effort, seems like it should work for episodes of adventures. I’m optimistic.
With Multiplayer War Games and Spartan Ops run from the Infinity, I hope they find a way to put the Spartan Ops episodes in unusual and unexpected places. Maybe some sort of team-training scenarios with new characters that take you to environments you haven’t seen in campaign and multiplayer. Not like Kirk and Spock as tommy-gun-gangsters, or solving mysteries with Scooby-Doo and special guests The Harlem Globetrotters. Or, maybe just like that? We’ll see. The options to continue the story look interesting. If they continue using live-action sequences with new Spartan Ops episodes, they could luck into some good actors that the gamers like. With good writing and storyline, they could get people hooked. It could be like the following that SyFy’s B.S.Galactica gained its first FRAKin’ season. Which may be a good example here, bits of interesting story content between live battle-action. They need to get folks to say they “can’t wait to see what happens next to so-and-so” and actually look forward to the next episode. And not just for the ‘credits’ or ‘rank’, like knocking-off Reach daily challenges. Story will be key. Fingers crossed everybody.
