...er, at least some things about it.

The wife and I are visiting Italy in October with much of my extended clan family (we're from there, and what not).  My passport expired a couple of years back, and as I wasn't planning on going anywhere I hadn't renewed it.

As there's been much publicized delays in passport applications in the news lately, I figured I'd better get on my horse and get mine renewed.  Just to be safe, I had it expedited.  Holy Schnikies, did they ever do it right!

6/28/07    Kwazy gets picture taken and sends off passport renewal application via snail mail
7/09/07    Kwazy gets new passport in the mail along with old, returned, canceled passport (Cool!  I didn't even know they did that!)

Eleven total (not business) days for the turn-around, including two weekends and over the Independence Day holiday.

Turns our some agencies of the government are apparently still working!

Don't worry - the passport office in SF still has lines around the corner because of the new passport laws (Need Passport to go to Mexico and Canada) - even though they made an announcement that a birth certificate and a form that says you're getting your passport will suffice.
