Shared on Mon, 08/27/2007 - 15:45Like many corporate employees today, I have several bosses. Four at the present time, to be exact. I would normally be getting a fifth back in October (when she finishes with her sixth month of maternity leave this year), but a development has kept that from being realized.
My immediate, direct-line boss informed me today that he has taken a position with another company (hush-hush!) and will be giving his two week notice on Friday.
This kind of sucks because he was the only one of that I didn't have a near daily urge to punch repeatedly in the throat. He also does a lot of very technical things that no one else can do. When he leaves, it will be not entirely unlike throwing a live woodchuck through the drive-thru window of your neighborhood McDonalds: two seconds of complete failure to comprehend followed by a long period of pandemonium.
I bid him good wishes and am planing on taking him out to lunch sometime his last week. But alas, me being the eternal Machiavellian prick, asked him last favor this afternoon:
He signed for me a blank, corporate temporary leave of absence form. I need only to turn it in to personnel before his last day to take any single period of up to 30 days off of work.
The Fall just got a whole lot rosier.
