What I did today

Well, I woke up hungover, went to work, mowed the lawn, sprayed the weeds so far.  Not a modicum of novelty in any of that.  However, I did do one thing I haven't done in probably 25 years:

I caught a grasshopper with my bare hands.

I startled her while I was walking around the yard spraying.  She jump-flew up on my burning bush...it's the one that refuses to either grow or die.  I very...carefully...cupped two hands together on either side of her.

When she kicked back with that unbelievable grasshopper force, I was startled...probably visibly so had anyone been watching me.  But it was not by the force itself, but rather how it instantaneously teleported me back in time to when I was eight years old.  That kicking...both powerful and gentle at the same time teemed together with the smell of the freshly cut grass just went straight to my id and smiled.  Had an ice cream truck had tinkled and chimed by, I think I probably would have broken down and cried right in the side yard.

I feel like a kid trapped in a 34 year olds body quite a often, but never more so than today.

What have you got against Tuesdays?
E

Well it's not actually Tuesday you are getting drunk, but in technicality it's Monday.

Truthfully, it started on Monday and carried into Tuesday.

I'm there with you Kwazy.\r \r A similar thing happened to me the other day when I picked up a snake. Of course we didn't have ice cream trucks in my town. Instead we'd bicycle behind the mosquito sprayer until we'd almost pass out. Didn't taste very good either.\r \r I feel normal otherwise. lol

Grasshoppers freak me out, they are the only bug/insect that does, when I was 8 or 9, I was playing in the yard, and a grasshopper jumped off of a storage shed and onto my nose, then it spat in my eye, I grabbed it, and it crawled out of my hand and up my arm, then jumped away. From the spit, to the creepy little fucking, gripping ass legs..........gave me nightmares!!!!

I think it is nice to have moments like these. They remind us that we are still more complex and emotional than we think (or admit). Not to mention the feeling rushing back into your mind so deep you can feel it flowing to your bones...its almost as satisfying as being drunk on a Monday...
