Worth another post

Had a good question from my last post.

Here's a good answer.

Simplistic, yes.  But most of the time the simple answer is the right one.

I don't disagree that this country needs a universal health care system. I'm all for that. In fact, Hawaii already provides health care for all of its citizens. But, there really is no simple answer. The video you linked to was too simple and I can see how it may create problems in the future if you cut spending every year. \r \r Also, don't fool yourself by thinking Russia is an ally, they are slowly reverting back to communism under the current leader. Furthermore, we spend a lot of money taking care of other countries when tragedy strikes. We don't get that back, very often. True, we did have offers after Katrina, but it is rare. (Random thoughts)\r \r I think it will be more complicated than just a redistribution of tax dollars.

Redistribution, nay. Reallocation.\r \r I never called Russia an ally, but the real only reason they're not is that they, like China, are in competition with us for energy.\r \r As far as good will money tossed by the US around towards other countries...it's a pittance. A mere fraction of what we spend to militarily align these countries to our liking. There's money enough for most social causes, the will just needs to be there.\r

I completely agree with both of you. I'm going to guess that nobody wants to give up national parks, highways, the space program, or a bunch of other stuff (well, maybe the space program).\r \r I probably shouldn't have posted the link...interesting how a link of the guy from Ben and Jerry's garned me a -2 rating (thanks!)...a bit too simple we'll agree upon. But the underlying point is:\r \r The money is available, the will should be too. Ensuring Americans have access to health care and education is paramount to this country's greatness. Yes, right up there with security.
