I Cleaned Out My Closet...and My Blog Too...The License Exchange

Okay, so I go to get my license renewed in a big hurry because I needed to catch a flight to New Mexico.  I go through security, luggage check etc, and they check my ticket name and license a hundred times before I get seated on the plane.  I get back from my trip and receive a phone call from someone who's name I don't recognize - I let the machine pick it up.  This person informs me that MY personal information, save for my photo is on THEIR license.  FUBAR.  I run over to my license and sure enough her info is on mine.  Now here's the big question.  What exactly were the people at the airport checking for?  Don't they do something basic like compare the name on the license to the name on the ticket?  How did I get by so many people?  Just something to ponder.

This is typical. If it had been me, they would have done a cavity search. :( You got through security because you have hoobs. ;)

Well they did pay extra close attention to the ice pack I had for a sandwich. My bomb making kit included a sandwich ice pack, yeah.

Yeah, I was taken aside because my toothpaste container was too big, and I had a powerEdge energy drink (get headaches if I miss meals) and they took them all away from me. But if my license said "John Q Public" they probably wouldn't even have noticed. Go figure. Basically, security focuses on the next big security risk and slacks in the older ones.

that's awesomely wrong :) I have the opposite problem - I've never made it through without being pulled aside and practically strip-searched. Shoe and belt removal are routine. I don't complain cause i'd rather security be overly cautious.

Homeland security at it's best...at least you didn't get detained and accused of being a Terrorist... I have a friend from the Isle of Man, and they detained her just for being from the Isle of Man, (They'd never heard of such a place...dumba$$'s)... I on the other hand ALWAYS get picked for the random security searches...they always mess up my carefully packed bags...ugh... LOL

I agree gamerchicklet - better safe than sorry. Haven't gone through the strip search though, other than taking off the shoes for carry on luggage checks. It's the possibility of 'cavity' searches that have me a little worried.
