It's The Little Things

We had some severe storms pass through Virginia tonight, including a heck of a lot of lightning/thunder that rattled my dishes (and my 360 which I promptly turned off). Well upon letting the dogs back in from their nighttime romp around the backyard, a rain soaked frog came flying onto the carpet of the den. Absolute chaos ensues with the dogs thinking they finally had a chance to catch something for once in their lives. I quickly herded my 120lb Shepherd/Coonhound mix, and small Jack Russell Terrier out of the room and gated them off while they gave me lots of the 'stink eye'. I had ruined their hunt. Then it was just me and the frog (cue Sergio Leone music a.k.a Spaghetti Western composer) I quickly stooped forward and tried to cup both my hands over him, but he shot through them. Again, stoop, escape, repeat. As I stooped and leaped after him across the den, I started feeling rather silly, like I was nine years old again catching frogs at the North Carolina 'crick' near my house. He went nuts in my hands when I finally caught him, and then the strangest thing happened. I lowered him out on my porch and he just sat there in my palm. He was a beautiful, shiny candy apple red color - the likes of which you'd imagine would only be found in a jungle of South America somewhere. I've lived here in Va for almost 20 years and I've never seen anything like it, so I found the whole thing very amusing. Nature fascinates me, 'all creatures great and small.'

Red frog? Theyre highly toxic. Hallucinegenic even. I hear if you handle one you become highly suggestable. I'll be over around 7:30. Wear something tight.

Mike - kids are pros at finding frogs (I was at one time). I'm returning your call today btw - probably later this afternoon. I was actually thinking of doing that door gunner :-) Jmarps LOL! That was one of the funniest loony tunes cartoons EVER. I shouid have posted a pic from it. Twisted - woo hoo! That's why I saw all those trippy colors afterwards. :D Raiz3r - "someday we'll find it, a rainbow connection" I actually might start illustrating my posts. Thanks for the idea.

the whole Zen moment when the frog finds peace would be a great Buddhist kids' story.... in the wake of the storm, calm comes to those that accept it. Shit, maybe I'll write it for ya! :)
