Bigfeet

The kids had a jog-a-thon this week at school. They are raising money for next years field trips and other assorted sundry for their school. Unlike all the other fundraisers this year *insert grumpy face* this one deserved to be participated in since it didnt involve me gaining 50 lbs from chocolate and cookie dough, and all the money went to the school instead of a small margine. The kids had called various relatives and asked them to be Sponsers (thanks!) and they were really excited about getting to raise money for their school by Jogging.
This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but as of Tuesday morning- Kate didn't own a single pair of sneakers. Not a single pair of shoes I would feel ok sending her to school in knowing she was going to spend a huge chunk of time running. So Tuesday night we headed to the Nike employee store to see what we could find.
Most of her shoes were size 11.5-12.5
The nice man sized her at a 13.5 or a 1! SHOOOOOT
That is always such a killer parenting moment to realize your poor kid has been hobbling around in shoes two sizes too small. These are the fancy new sneakers we picked out for her. Don't they look huge! Poor girl is going to have big feet like me.
To make it worse, Andrew is wearing shoes that he wore the first day of KINDERGARTEN! I've suspected for a while that he might need new shoes, but he swore up and down that his toes dont hurt, they dont touch the end of his shoes, and they fit just fine. I was a big enough sucker to believe him. He is currently in size 12.5-13 shoes he- sized for a 1.5-2!!! SHOOOOOOOT
Now we have two kids that need an all new shoe wardrobe. Thankfully I have shoes for the other boys already thanks to the hand me down gods. Kate won first prize this time because she flat out couldnt wear her old shoes. Andrew will have to wait a week until the next paycheck comes to get his new shoes. Ive been doing some baby sitting for a lady at church, and I have the feeling that all my extra money from that (Im done when school gets out) Is going to go towards new shoes. (lol Or maybe I will just hit the 2 for $5 flip flop sale at Old Navy and call it good) ;)
